Plum Biscuit is a quarterly literary e-zine that features short stories, poetry and essays. Plum Biscuit is open to submissions from all genres and styles, as well as from emerging and established writers. The only requirements for submission will be quality, clarity and power.

Plum Biscuit is a project of NY Writers Coalition, a nonprofit organization that provides creative writing programs for New York City's economically disadvantaged and disenfranchised youths and adults. Submissions to Plum Biscuit will be reviewed and selected by NYWC workshop members--residents of supportive housing programs, at-risk youth, elderly and people with physical and emotional disabilities. Please visit the NY Writers Coalition website (www.nywriterscoalition.org) for more information on our organization and its workshops, readings and publications.

We ask that writers submit a story or essay of up to 3,500 words, or up to five poems, by cutting and pasting it into the body of the email (plumbiscuit@nywriterscoalition.org). For formatting reasons, we also welcome writers to attach word documents to the email, but only if accompanied by plain text versions in the body of the email. Please note the title of your story, essay or lead poem in the subject line of your email, and within the text. We are a quarterly e-zine, at least for now; we therefore anticipate that our response time should be no more than three months.

Deadline for next issue: July 15, 2005.

We cannot pay contributors. Copyrights revert to the author upon publication. All work published is with the expressed consent and permission of the author, who may withdraw it at any time before we go online with the new issue.

Thank you for considering submitting your work to Plum Biscuit. We look forward to reading it!
