Our Words: In My Pocket
by Alexis Martinez, 17
Today I wore my favorite purple and gray coat.
I had three pockets, but one was more special than any other.
It was an inside compartment that hid anything and everything.
It expanded how far I wanted it to expand, at least a couple of 5 feet.
For each day of the week there was something different in my pocket.
On Monday I had a pickle in my pocket, because I was feeling sour.
On Tuesday I had a couple of jalapeno peppers, cause I was feeling hot.
Then Wednesday I had a pencil case, cause I was feeling straight.
Thursday I had a tissue in there, cause I was feeling a li’l rough around
the edges. Friday, let’s just say, I had lip gloss for a special occasion.
On Saturday my pocket held a Metrocard, cause I was on the go.
Finally, last day of the week, I have my bible because I’m feeling holy.
